Flash Mob Movie at BLT

Did you receive the Flash email this week? About our Movie Project?

If you missed it, here’s the scoop. Come to the theater about 6:00 PM (exact time not critical; come when you can), this Wednesday, January 30. We are going to shoot a video to enter in the Toshiba “Helping the Helpers” Technology Makeover contest. This 2-minute video will hopeful show what an exciting place BLT is, and that our mission to educate and inspire our community is worthy of winning their support with technology equipment and systems for our new theater facility, coming soon to the historic downtown Baytown district. Adults, youth, and children are welcome. Bring a piece of technology equipment with you to use in the video.

We don’t really know how long this will take, but we hope to be finished by 8:00 or 9:00. Snacks will be served. And we’ll keep it fun.

Who knows? You may find yourself being a star.

Cast for The Foreigner Announced

Director Sam Estrada has announced the cast of The Foreigner, Larry Shue’s uproarious comedy set in a resort fishing lodge in backwoods Georgia owned by Betty Meeks, played by Francis Sutton. Two guests, Englishmen Froggy (Kenny Haney) and Charlie (Jim Wadzinski) arrive, and to keep Charlie from having to talk to anyone, Froggy passes him off as an exotic native who does not understand a word of English. Complications arrive in the characters of local Ku Klux Klan member Owen Musser, played by Kenny Wade, southern belle Catherine Simms (Chelsea Dennard), and her fiance Reverend David (John Morales). Along with Catherine’s simple-minded brother Ellard Simms, played by Neal Gage, the entire cast figures into the resolution of mystery, suspense, and hijinks.

Tuna Does Vegas Helps BLT Celebrate

The traditional New Year’s Eve celebration offered by the Baytown Little Theater will be done in wild and hilarious Texas fashion, as Tuna, Texas, third smallest town in the state, returns to the Baytown community theater’s stage. Featuring performances by two of the BLT’s best known performers, Jim Wadzinski and Kim Martin, the play is the latest in the series of satiric comedies created by Texas legends Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Ed Howard. Sears and Williams have appeared for many years in the plays that feature well-known characters who populate the tiny West Texas town of Tuna.

Eighteen characters make their appearance in Tuna Does Vegas, from radio personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie, to Vera Carp and Aunt Pearl Burras. New characters appear courtesy of the visit to Las Vegas, including Anna Conda and two Elvis impersonators well past their prime. All characters are played by Martin and Wadzinski, who are supported and hurried back onstage by director Sylvia Wadzinski, assistant director Fred White, stage manager Beth Darby, and Tammy Calloway, Robin McDougal, Mary Lou Martin, and Koni Hovater. Megan Thomas and Mary Price provide special costume construction support. Tickets for all performances are going fast, so click here to get tickets before they are all gone.
