Take Me Along

written by
Written by Bob Merrill

directed by Kim Martin

Description
A musical comedy about an American family in a small town in Connecticut in 1906. It tells the story of a small-town newspaper editor who has become the hero of his community because of his championing the acquisition of a new modern fire engine. But his pride is tarnished when one of his advertisers condemns him because of the seductive and romantic poetry that his son has been reading to the advertiser's daughter. Throw in the story of the ne'er-do-well brother-in-law who never met a boss nor a booze he could tolerate, and you have one of the most charming musicals to come off the Broadway stage in the late 1950's and early '60's.
Songs in the show include the well-known "Take Me Along", as well as the comedic "Sid Ol' Kid", "Staying Young", "Promise Me a Rose", and "Little Green Snake", among many others. The show also includes two rip-roaring chorus dance numbers, so this will be a memorable summer event at the Baytown Little Theater.
