Audition times are a great opportunity to get involved, no matter what your interest. Bring us your talent and we can figure out a way to use it! It takes a lot more than just actors on stage to produce a show. You can find your niche with us, whether it’s box office, lights, props, costumes, set construction, fund raising, publicity or more!
All actors and directors are volunteers. Anyone can audition, whether you have years of experience or you are walking onstage for the first time, you can participate in one or both of the audition nights. By participating both nights you may increase your chances for consideration because the director can audition you with different groups and/or for different roles. You will also have an enhanced opportunity to speak with the director about other ways you can participate. If you become a part of any production you must already be, or become, a member of the Theater.
Almost all auditions at BLT are read-from-the-script style tryouts. Scripts or sides are seldom available prior to the scheduled auditions. For musicals, you may be asked to learn a short musical passage or two, or learn a brief dance combination. If you have access to the script or the music, you might wish to review them, but don’t let unfamiliarity with the play keep you from attending auditions.
Back Stage
Each production requires a number of volunteers to fulfill all of the needs of the show. By attending at least one audition night, you can submit your application to the director to do any of the following:
* Set building
* Set decoration
* Props
* Costumes
* Makeup
* Sound
* Lighting
Your dependable assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Off Stage
There are many other volunteers who keep the theater running smoothly. Whether it’s serving on the board of directors or mailing a reminder card, every volunteer is important.
Here are some other ways you can get involved:
* usher
* house manager
* box office volunteer
* communications
* play reading
* fundraising
* publicity
Call the BLT (281-424-7617) and leave a message if you’d like to get involved. Someone will call you back within a few days.
