Musical Opens to Highlight Summer Entertainment
BLT opens the uber-pop musical Urinetown, the Musical, Friday, August 3, with performances continuing August 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19. Friday & Saturday performances have an 8:00 PM curtain, and Sunday matinees are at 2:30 PM.
Director John Morales leads his able cast onto the stage with rousing anthems, moving ballads, and hilarious send ups of standard showtune genres. The audience will be transported to a town plagued by a 20-year drought, where water has become so scarce that private toilets have become unthinkable. At the mercy of dominating corporation Urine Good Company, destitute citizens must pay towering taxes and fines to carry out their most private and basic needs. Out of the mass, a hero rises to lead his fellow citizens against the tyrannical regime. The ending has an ironic surprise conclusion.

The Play Reading Committee continues to work on compiling a list of plays to be considered for the 2013 Season. They will present their recommended list to the Board of Directors at a future meeting, and this information will be sent out to qualified directors whose application to direct will be solicited. We hope to be announcing the next season, which will have its first production in February, 2013, sometime in late October or early November.
